Careers Vision Statement

At Enfield County School for Girls we are committed in ensuring that all students are provided with the support, advice, guidance and opportunities to aid them with their future success. We aim to do this by planning a comprehensive Careers programme which incorporates Careers education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CIEAG) and Work-Related learning (WRL). We believe that is crucial that high quality Careers education enables young people to make informed decisions about their futures.

The charitable Gatsby Foundation introduced 8 benchmarks for schools and colleges to use as framework to ensure that Careers education in educational establishments is of a high standard. We use the Gatsby Benchmarks Framework to guide the planning of our Careers programme. They are as follows:

  1. A Stable Careers ProgrammeCareers at ECSfG Page2
  2. Learning from Career and Labour Market Information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to Careers
  5. Encounters with Employers and Employees
  6. Experiences of Workplaces
  7. Encounters of Further and Higher Education
  8. Personal Guidance

MEASURING IMPACT

At Enfield County School for Girls we measure the impact of our Careers programme using the following measures:

  • Self-Evaluating tool (Compass) –The Compass tool is supported by the Careers and Enterprise Company and we use this twice a year to measure our progress against the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Termly review of Careers Department Improvement plan
  • September guarantee data and Intended destinations data is used to identify what students planned to achieve against what course that actually applied for.
  • Feedback from Students/Staff/Parents and Carers.
  • Post event evaluation forms from students and staff
  • Employer and volunteer feedback forms

The next review of our Careers information will be in Nov 2024

Enfield County School for Girls Provider Access Policy

Introduction

This sets out the school’s arrangements for managing the access of providers to pupils at the school for the purpose of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer. This complies with the school’s legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education Act 1997.

Pupil entitlement

All pupils in years 7-13 are entitled:

  • to find out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeships opportunities, as part of a careers programme which provides information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point;
  • to hear from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships – through options events, assemblies and group discussions and taster events;
  • to understand how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.

Management of provider access requests

Procedure

A provider wishing to request access should contact Ms D Bastienne (Careers Leader).

Opportunities for access

The school offers a comprehensive Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance programme and an overview of this programme can be seen in the School’s Careers Charter which can be seen on the school website.

Please speak to our Careers Leader to identify the most suitable opportunity for you.

The school will make a suitable space available for discussions between the provider and students, as appropriate to the activity. The school will also make available ICT and other specialist equipment to support provider presentations. This will all be discussed and agreed in advance of the visit with the Careers Leader or a member of their team.
