Enfield Council Mayor's Award for Science
I was fortunate enough to be chosen for the Mayor's Award along with another fellow year 12 biologist, Srutika. Many year 12 students were there representing other schools in the borough. The event was held at Middlesex University, where we were taken to a state-of-the-art laboratory. We were given some pretend evidence. Our main activity was to determine how a man died using DNA fingerprinting, entomology and blood testing. We thoroughly enjoyed our day as we got to use specialist equipment that we wouldn't usually get to use. Some of the skills that I learnt were how to use a advanced microscope and how to use entomology to decide a day of death. This was a very educational and worthwhile experience.
