    Mayor's Award for Science

On Thursday 16th of March, four of our students were invited to Southgate School for the evening to be presented with their awards for the Mayor’s Award for Science.

On the 28th February, Middlesex University hosted a day for students across the borough that involved challenging problem solving skills

Abigail and Jayanshi represented our Year 9s at a robotics workshop and Jade and Charlotte were our Year 12 Biologists, who took part in a forensics course, where DNA and other evidence was analysed.

The award ceremony included an exhibition of universities and employers, advertising educational opportunities and encouraging students to progress into STEM careers.  After the presentation by Councellor Ayfer Orhan, the audience was treated to an explosive demonstration by Tim Harrison from Bristol ChemLabS.

Our students were a credit to our school and really impressed the staff at Middlesex University. All four of our girls acted as mature ambassadors for our school and enjoyed and benefited from the experience.  Congratulations to these four girls, but especially to Jade who won a trophy for achieving second place in the event!
